Pool attendant
The purpose of this program is to provide the knowledgerequired to operate wading pools and slide landing basins in situations wherethereis no assistant lifeguard or lifeguard. It teaches the lifesavingskillsneeded to preventinjury and promote the safe use of aquaticfacilities. The course highlights the roles and responsibilities of the attendant and trains participants to analyze, identify, control and eliminaterisks and hazards in the facility.
Candidates willlearn not onlyprevention techniques, but also how to monitor, recognize and intervention in emergency situations.

BRONZE STAR
The Bronze Star is the first Bronze level certification. It introduces you to lifesaving through problem solving and decision-making as an individual and as a member of a team. You will learn how to perform resuscitation on a victim who has stopped breathing and develop the lifesaving skills necessary to become your own lifeguard.
MINIMUM TIME RECOMMENDED :
- 10 to 12 hours in the pool
PREREQUISITES:
- Ability to swim 100 meters (recommended)
- Expert Junior Lifeguard (recommended)

BRONZE MEDALLION
The Bronze Medallion award introduces the four basic components of lifesaving: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. You will learn towing, carrying, defending, and disengaging techniques to be prepared to rescue conscious and unconscious victims in increasingly dangerous situations.
THE BRONZE MEDALLION CERTIFICATION ALLOWS YOU TO WORK AS AN ASSISTANT LIFEGUARD AT A POOL STARTING AT 15 YEARS OLD.
MINIMUM TIME RECOMMENDED :
- 15 hours (excluding the final exam).
PREREQUISITES:
- Must be at least 13 years old at the time of the final exam or hold a Bronze Star certificate.
- Demonstrate Bronze Star skills and knowledge.
- If you are a good swimmer and can demonstrate all the strokes and techniques of the Bronze Star level, then you can register for the Bronze Medallion. An evaluation will be done during the first class.
CERTIFICATE VALIDITY PERIOD :

2 years if used as a work permit.
- Valid for life to register for the Bronze Cross certification.

BRONZE CROSS
If you are looking for more advanced training to learn lifeguarding fundamentals, the Bronze Cross certification is for you. You will also learn how to rescue a victim with a spinal injury in the deep end and a submerged victim in cardiorespiratory arrest.
THE BRONZE CROSS CERTIFICATION ALLOWS YOU TO WORK AS AN ASSISTANT LIFEGUARD AT A POOL STARTING AT 15 YEARS OLD, AND ON A BEACH STARTING AT 16 YEARS OLD.
MINIMUM TIME RECOMMENDED :
- 20 hours (excluding final evaluation)
PREREQUISITES:
- Bronze Medallion certification
AWARD VALIDITY :
- 2 years if used as a work permit.
- Valid for life to register for the National Lifeguard and Lifesaving Instructor certifications.
