Emergency First Aid/AED – Sports & Recreation
You work in a sport or recreational environment as coach, referee or as a volunteer in a sports team? You are therefore well-aware that incidents can quickly arise in this context, and know how important it is to promptly react in such an emergency situation.
The Lifesaving Society is the only organization that offers this comprehensive course, which has been developed in collaboration with the Conseil de médecine du sport du Québec. With this 8-hour training, you will quickly recognize abnormal signs and symptoms that can occur during sports and recreational activities, such as signs of a concussion. You will therefore be able to apply the necessary emergency measures and determine when the injured player is ready for a comeback.
Moreover, you will learn to provide basic treatments in order to immobilize an injury, to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and to administer epinephrin with an auto-injector. This course will also teach you how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult and on a child, and how to react in case of a respiratory emergency or a cardiac arrest.
This course can be adapted according to the type of sports or recreational environment in which the participants work.
